Big Longer.)
THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO

Friday 11 July:

Friday 19 September:
CBC 9PM (9:30PM Newfoundland) - 4th Series Premiere!
This edition was originally intended to go out on Saturday July 5,
and was written on that basis. Going out early to avoid a schedule
conflict and make it easier for those who want to get off the
internet before the Series 4 finale airs and gets spoiled all over
the place.
UK - Journey's End airs tonight at 6:40PM (BBC One), Sunday at 7:30PM
(BBC Three), and Friday at 8:30PM (BBC Three). The episode is
scheduled for 65 minutes. Episodes are on iPlayer for UK residents
for one week after each broadcast. And please make certain that your
friends, family, and mortal enemies have *seen* the episode before
you tell them your theories about how Leela and Tegan are the same
merged entity - sorry!, stopping now. Don't do something like that -
especially regarding characters that are actually in the episodes.
Series 4 repeats begin on BBC Three http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree on
Monday 14 July at 7PM with Partners In Crime. Looks like it will be a
three day a week schedule instead of the 5 days of previous years,
due to other BBC Three programming committments on Thursdays and
Fridays.
UKTV Drama http://www.uktv.co.uk/drama continues airing one episode of Tom Baker a day most days in the 5AM hour this month. In August 1 to 6 episodes will air per day and the start time will vary to as early as 2:30AM. Looks like they are trying to race through the leftover airing rights they have. A repeat run of Series 1 and 2 (with some episode missing) begins on UKTV Gold http://www.uktv.co.uk/gold Monday 21 July at 7AM and 4PM. UKTV Drama and UKTV Gold are rebranding in the Autumn, with Gold focusing on comedy and Drama focusing on Crime Drama. A new Contemporary channel will launch and have Torchwood repeats. Presumably that channel will get modern Who. Unknown if they will try to get classic Doctor Who, especially considering ...
SciFi Channel UK http://www.scifi.co.uk has a 3 day Bank Holiday weekend marathon of classic Doctor Who (23 to 25 August) coming up, which implies a new home for Classic Doctor Who in the UK as autumn approaches.
Italy - Jimmy http://www.jimmy140.it begins Series 3 of Who Sunday 6 July (The Runaway Bride). Episodes air many times during the week, though currently most airings are after Midnight. Torchwood Series 2 just started airing as well. Try not to get too worked up over Doctor Who/Torchwood continuity, as Jimmy is airing the Torchwood episodes far out of synch with the Doctor Who timeline.
New Zealand - Prime http://www.primetv.co.nz has scheduled Series 4
to premiere Sunday 6 June at 7PM with Voyage Of The Damned. Beginning
with Partners In Crime on 13 July, episodes air at 7:30PM.
USA - SciFi http://www.scifi.com has updated their August schedule and given The Stolen Earth / Journey's End a 90 minute timeslot on August 1, 2008. The episode will air at 8:30PM and 11PM Eastern. This should enable the episode to air full length with no edits (sorry, banners on the screen and crunched closing credits do not count as edits, no matter how much we dislike the practices). Well done to SciFi for getting the correct version of the episode. ABC Australia, Prime New Zealand, and CBC Canada - your turns to step up and get the full version of {s[JourneysEnd}}.
CANADA - French language station Ztele http://www.ztele.com has removed Doctor Who Series 4 from their fall plans. Torchwood Series 2 (and later Jericho) will take the Tuesday 10PM timeslot. It is hoped, but not known if {cZtele will get to Series 4 in 2009.
Shaun O'Mac's TV Talk Radio show
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/shaunomacradio on July 3 discussed
SciFi's decision to give Doctor Who 90 minutes to air complete at the
start of their show and a bit longer at the end when I called in.
Many people are already downloading that episode from Blogtalkradio's
website due to their talk with the creator of Swingtown and the "26
Miles" project that John Schneider is attached to, and when they get
around to listening to it, they will hear about SciFi doing the right
thing for the Doctor. It was a good experience and you might hear my
voice there again. This column's turning 10 years old next weekend -
I'll talk almost anywhere right now.
Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org has dropped Doctor Who from their regular lineup for the first time in 25 years. My thoughts in Section B.
Torchwood schedule information is included in the Torchwood This Week
column http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood .

is offered for free with commercials. See the website to determine if
your provider may offer this service. Based on the paucity of
information on the episodes airing, I guess they want you to get the
service before you know what you will be seeing.

- Newest episode on the enhanced feed at iTunes - Episode 111, a
feedback show looking at listener e-mails/calls.
- Previously recorded discussions on Partners in Crime, "The Fires
Of Pompeii", Planet of the Ood, The Sontaran Stratagem, "The
Poison Sky", The Doctor's Daughter, "The Unicorn And The

on the live feed but still to come to the official cleaned up

Sunday 6 April. Also (hopefully) coming soon - the Gallifrey 2008
episode recorded live on February 17th.
- New studio shows are expected this summer when the hosts are able
to get the iTunes feed caught up.
Upcoming:
Sunday Noon EDT (9AM PDT, 5PM BST) - Talkshoe live chat discussing
episode 4-13 Journey's End. Time tentative. The chat for "The
Stolen Earth" was the longest Podshock episode ever. Expect another
long installment this time.

Doctor Who topics, seems to be indefinitely delayed

Jim Iaccino and Kenn Gold look at the latest SciFi broadcasts in the
US, with emphasis on fitting in Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, and
Flash Gordon. Thankfully for them, Doctor Who is in new episodes on
SciFi. Everything is based on US premiere dates rather than UK.
Approximately 90 minutes per episode. Show airs live with a text chat
and can be downloaded later.
Current episode - June 29th - Forest Of The Dead delighted the hosts,
and Kenn dropped a few more hints about The Stolen Earth than I'd
have expected on a US based show. No, he didn't give away the
cliffhanger. Doctor Who was the focus of the first half of the show.
No episode expected July 6 due to the 4th of July Holiday, but you
never can tell.
13 July 9PM PDT (Midnight EDT, Monday 5AM BST) - Doctor Who -
Midnight. Will Stargate Atlantis be discussed? Can Kenn resist
discussing the events of Journey's End? Certainly SciFi's decision to
give the episode a full time slot will be discussed, along with
irritation that SciFi didn't extend several other episodes by 5
minutes to air them complete.

West, Dave AC, Colin, and other Doctor Who fans liked the live Doctor
Who: Podshocks so much that they wanted to keep talking afterwards.
The resulting show covers Doctor Who, anything else sci-fi related,
and can go wildly off in all directions.
The June 29 episode was cancelled due to technical difficulties,
notably a person named Mississippi constantly logging in and
apparently having a different chat at the same time. Mississippi
would not want his/her name mentioned in this. Tough.
Sunday 2:30PM EDT (7:30PM BST, 11:30AM PDT) - (Time approximate after
Doctor Who: Podshock) - The often postponed Ashes To Ashes chat may
occur. Could also be overflow discussion regarding Journey's End, as
there won't be any more new Doctor Who episodes till Christmas.
Hopefully Mississippi can stay out of the room and the chat can
successfully record.
Radio Free Skaro http://radiofreeskaro.wordpress.com
The 3 Canadians get together on Sundays for about an hour to discuss
the latest in Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sarah Jane in a fairly
amusing manner. Format seems to be extending to commentaries of
Classic Who on quiet weeks - stay tuned.
Current episode - #89 - The Stolen Mirth. Two thirds of the team
really liked the episode. The other one was more tempered. Much
excitement and use of the word "indeed" occured.
Sunday or Monday - #90 - Journey's End is the topic of discussion.
Good luck.
A Podcast Of Impossible Things

Cardiff-based Doctor Who fans get together to discuss the latest
Doctor Who and do a full length commentary on new Doctor Who episodes.
Current episode - The Stolen Earth (posted 2 July). Their preferred
iPlayer source is misbehaving, forcing Caleb and the guy who isn't as
assertive at getting us to remember hsi name to watch the episode on
a laptop. The review comes out just fine. Will a sister-in-law
survive the proceedings?
Next episode - Journey's End (expected 9 July). 65 minutes to
commentate on the episode, plus their introduction and conclusion
could result in the longest Impossible Things podcast to date.

Weeknights 6 to 8PM EDT (3 to 5PM PDT) [Friday 7PM EDT/4PM PDT]

show covering all things TV. Doctor Who is usually discussed in the
2nd hour of the Friday show with Two Doctors co-host Kenn Gold.
Listen and chat live through the website with archives appearing
right after the show finishes.
- The Thursday July 3 episode runs 16 minutes over because Shaun
spoke with Benjamin Elliott of "This Week In Doctor Who" regarding
SciFi expanding the Doctor Who finale, Steven Moffat's Who takeover,
Charlie Jade's 3AM demotion, etc. Benjamin had some sound problems at
his end, but it is still audible. The segment starts about 1 hour, 58
minutes in. The same episode has extensive interviews with the
creators of Swingtown and 26 Miles.
